Named after Thailand's nobility, Thai Luang offers its customers
a royal dining experience. The owner, Muttika Setapayak,
is a native of Thailand who graduated from the famous
Oriental Hotel School of Thai Cooking in Bangkok.

Travel to Thailand without leaving Northern Virginia. Thai Luang serves “the best Thai food outside of Thailand,” according to The Washington Post. Thai Luang Restaurant near Reston Town Center offers distinct, authentic-flavor dishes.  While many area Thai restaurants Americanize their menu, Thai Luang prides itself on remaining loyal to the tastes of Thailand.  If you were able to judge food by a restaurant’s patrons, you’d know the most authentic Thai food is here because it is the choice of so many Thailand immigrants.

The Thai Luang menu features dishes from all four regions of Thailand, which offer distinct flavors not normally found in the United States. The result is an elegant yet light and zesty taste that is quite different from the other oriental foods.

Diners who begin with an appetizer may choose from something familiar like spring rolls or be more adventurous and try a Thai Fish Cake, Ka-Noom Jeep (dumplings), Thai Luang Fried Squid, or Crying Tiger.  Traditional Thai soups and salads are offered such as lemon grass soup and Som Tum (green papaya salad).  Entrees range from a variety of pad dishes (Pad Kee Mau, Pad King, Pad Ka Plow, etc.) to seafood (squid, shrimp, or snapper with basic garlic, or chili sauce) to curry (Northeast style, red, green, Panang) to noodles (Pad Thai, Raad-Na, Pad See-Ew) or rice.

If you are overwhelmed by the choices, try their specialty, “Crispy Duck.”  The duck is de-boned and marinated ahead of time.  It is then cooked and seasoned when you order it.  It is served in a variety of dishes.  Choose your favorite or discover a new favorite.

"There are many Thai restaurants in the Washington and Northern Virginia area, but there are very few that stay loyal to the tastes of Thailand; places where expatriate Thais gather to enjoy the food of their homeland because they know they are getting the real thing."
